Nicola Swan is new IRN Chair

Following John Bryden's decision to stand down as Chair of the International Rural Network, Nicola Swan (right) was unanimously elected as his successor at the Forum in Udaipur.

Replacing her as Secretary is Lakshi Murthy, who had key responsibility for the organisation of the 2009 Forum. Also retiring from the Board was another long-serving member Baburao Baviskar.

John Bryden agreed to accept the post of Honorary President of the IRN, a move which reflected the esteem in which he is held by Network members.

New Board members elected at the Forum are Sue McAlpin and Geraldine Duncan from Australia, Jacob John Kattayam from India and Norman MacAskill from Scotland.

The complete Board now consists of:

Nicola Swan (Chair)
Tom Gougeon (Treasurer)
Lakshmi Murthy (Secretary)
Kimanzi Muthengi
Sue McAlpin
Geraldine Duncan
Jacob John Kattayam
Norman MacAskill
